Now with new updated components that work after firmware version 2022.28.X (updated Dec 2022). Previously it has been reported that firmware version 2022.28.X can sense when the PWS speaker is disconnected and an error message will appear as a result.
The first Model 3 cars sold in the first 2 years in Sweden are not equipped with the Pedestrian Warning Speaker, or boombox as many know it as.
In connection with the introduction of the boombox in the spring of 2021, all the cars also start to emit artificial sounds at low speeds to alert people in their surroundings that a car is nearby. By disconnecting this resistance in the speaker, you get rid of the sounds that otherwise occur when you reverse, for example. At the same time, you avoid annoying error codes that otherwise occur if you just disconnect the speaker or cut the cables. During installation, it is important that the car is turned off, i.e. do not disconnect the speaker before turning off the car. The resistor and the cable to the speaker must be connected to the car before you can start the car again to avoid error codes.
The solution is fully resettable and does not affect the other functions of the car.
