Enduro Drive Unit Oil Cooler and Magnetic Filter for Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y
Drive cooler. Drive longer. The Enduro Drive Unit Oil Cooler and Magnetic Filter is a direct replacement of the factory oil filter on the Model 3 and Model Y drive units. Drive unit cooling capacity is increased by approximately 10% with this design. Engine life is further protected by using dual magnetic separators to extract metal chips from the drive unit. The oil filter has a larger capacity and upgraded 5 micron filter. The net result is a drive that can run cooler and also cleaner with less metal debris. As used on the Unplugged Performance Pikes Peak Model 3, which also broke EV production-based lap records at Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow Raceway.
Long life maintenance of metal debris and drive unit:
Challenge: During the product investigation, Tesla drive oil was sent out for third party independent analysis. The sample oil was from an entire inventory of 5,000 miles of street driving Model 3 SR+. The conclusion of the third party testing company Cavpower Pty Ltd indicated "Aluminum levels are elevated" and recommended immediate oil change.
Solution: A magnetic filter is integrated into the oil filter to capture and easily remove the metal chips.
Improved drive cooling unit:
The oil cooler design is optimized for each drive unit to provide maximum volume size. A cooling efficient design is implemented on the machined aluminum machined unit, which is then finished in a heat efficient hard anodized treatment. As a result of the design, there is more fluid capacity and better thermal properties than the oil filter it replaces.
Designed to last:
The design is intended for a lifetime of vehicle use. The internal oil filter is easy to replace during standard intervals and is widely available worldwide. Usability has been kept in mind including a convenient drain plug for quick oil sampling.
