Tesla Supercharger V4: Now in Sweden
In the shadow of the debate over Tesla's refusal to sign Swedish collective agreements, the company is taking a major technological step forward with the launch of the fourth generation Supercharger in Sweden. Eight new Supercharger V4 charging posts have recently been installed in Härnösand.
Since the introduction of the Tesla Supercharger in Europe a decade ago, the technology has undergone several changes. With the V4 version, first launched in the Netherlands, comes significant technical upgrades. These new chargers have retained their maximum charging capacity of 250 kW but are now prepared for higher powers in the future.
A key change is the extended charging cables, making the chargers more accessible to non-Tesla EVs. As of last year, non-Tesla owners can also use the Supercharger, although at a higher cost compared to Tesla owners. Design-wise, the V4 is different from previous models, making them easier to recognize.
For owners of Tesla Model S and Model X manufactured before 2021, a CCS adapter and in some cases a CCS upgrade is required to use the new chargers. This expansion of Tesla's charging network in Sweden is part of a larger development. Just a few months ago, the network reached a milestone with a thousand Supercharger charging stations in the country. Now there are over 1,100 charging stations spread across 80 stations, of which 70 stations are open to all electric car models.
