New Tesla Model Y - Design, performance and price

After months of speculation, the new version of the Tesla Model Y is finally here! The car has been launched on Tesla's Chinese website and is now available to order. With improved range, new design and a more advanced interior, the popular electric car takes another step forward in innovation and comfort.
Design New Tesla Model Y
The new Tesla Model Y Juniper/Opal has received a major facelift. The front end is lower and features narrower headlights and a continuous light strip, giving it a futuristic look inspired by the Tesla Cybertruck and Cybercab. The rear has also been redesigned with a similar light strip and softer lines. The improvements are not just aesthetic - the car's aerodynamics have also been optimized, with a lowered drag coefficient from 0.23 to 0.22. This contributes to longer range and a quieter driving experience.
Interior New Tesla Model Y
The interior is clearly upgraded and follows the modern design language of the Tesla Model 3 Highland released in 2024. The cabin is equipped with light strips that extend throughout the car and an additional screen for the rear seat passengers, where media and climate controls can be operated. The news that the rear row of seats can now also be folded down and up electronically with a button in the trunk makes Model Y even more practical for families and adventurers.
Tesla has also focused on improving comfort with new acoustic glass that reduces noise and provides an improved sound system. The seats, door panels and dashboard have been given a more luxurious finish, and new suspension, wheels and tires contribute to a smoother and quieter ride.
Performance New Tesla Model Y
At launch, two variants will be offered:
1. the RWD model with a range of 547 km (based on Japanese standards), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h.
2. the AWD Long Range model, capable of 635 km and accelerating to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
Prices for the Model Y Juniper/Opal are not yet released in Sweden, but in China, the rear-wheel-drive version starts at around 395,000 SEK - around 5% more than before. For those who want to save money, the older model is offered with a discount and favorable conditions until the end of February.
