Electricians Join Battle Against Tesla: Block Service at Charging Stations for Collective Bargaining Demands

The electricians' union Elektrikerna has joined IF Metall's collective bargaining campaign against the car company Tesla. In a significant action, Elektrikerna has initiated sympathy measures across Sweden, which means that members are refusing to perform repairs or service at Tesla's workshops and charging stations. This decision follows IF Metall's previous strike notice and blockade against Tesla, aimed at demanding a collective agreement.

The conflict has been escalating since October 2023, with several strikes and negotiations failing to reach a solution. The electricians' actions include blocking service and repairs at Tesla's electrical facilities, and have begun with the posting of blockade signs at several locations. The union's position is that the actions will continue until Tesla signs a collective agreement, in order to maintain the Swedish model of wage formation and working conditions.

The union's decision has led to mixed reactions, with some supporting the fight against a large multinational company and others questioning the interference. These developments are part of an ongoing debate about labor rights and the role of trade unions in Sweden.
