Tesla Model Y 7-seater
The Tesla Model Y is one of the most popular electric cars on the market, and its flexibility in terms of space makes it perfect for families and adventurers alike. Nowadays, Tesla Model Y is available in two versions, 5-seater and 7-seater. What's really the difference more than the number of seats? Read on to learn everything you need to know!
Tesla Model Y 5-seater
The 5-seat version of the Tesla Model Y is the default choice for most buyers. Here are some of its advantages:
- Roomier trunk: With two rows of seats, you get maximum space for packing. Perfect for long trips or larger loads.
- Comfort: The five seats provide plenty of legroom and comfort for all passengers.
- Affordability: The 5-seat model is less expensive than the 7-seat version, making it more attractive to smaller families or individuals who don't need extra seating.
Tesla Model Y 7-seater
The 7-seat version of the Model Y is designed with larger families or those who regularly need extra seating in mind. Here's what makes it unique:
- Extra seating: Two extra seats in the third row make it possible to transport up to seven people.
- Practical for shorter trips: The third row is mainly adapted for children or shorter adults. This makes it ideal for families with small children.
- Flexible interior: The third-row seats are foldable, allowing you to choose between passenger space and extra cargo space.
The extra seats have less cushion, backrest, head and knee room than regular seats, which may affect the comfort of adult passengers. To create legroom for the third row, the second row also needs to be pushed forward, reducing legroom even in the regular seats.
Despite Tesla adding two extra seats, the cargo capacity is only affected from 2,158 liters to 2,040 liters. With all seven seats folded, there is room for 363 liters of cargo in the rear. When the third row of seats is folded down, the luggage space increases to 753 liters, which is slightly less than the 854 liters offered in the five-seater variant. To reach the third row of seats, a button is pressed which causes the second row to slide forward. There are also two USB-C ports at the rear seats to easily charge mobile devices. The surcharge to get seven seats is 28,500 SEK. Rubber mats for the Tesla Model Y 7-seater will be available for pre-order in this collection in early 2025.
Tesla Model Y: The difference between 5-seater and 7-seater
Below we list the pros and cons of the different versions. What are your needs? Here are some factors to consider when making your choice:
- Do you have a large family or want to be able to transport more than five passengers? Then the 7-seater version is the natural choice.
- Are you planning to use the car for long trips with lots of luggage? Then the 5-seater version is a more natural choice given its spacious luggage compartment.
- If price is an important factor, the 5-seat model is your optimal choice.
Whether you choose the 5-seater or the 7-seater, the Tesla Model Y offers a great combination of range, technology and practicality. For smaller families or individuals who prioritize trunk space, the 5-seater is the best choice, while the 7-seater model will suit those who need more flexibility and extra seating.
