Description
Our door strips to provide better sound insulation and also protect against dirt in the entrance area are one of the most popular accessories on our website!
Please note that the installation should be done on a warm car where the surface is at least 15 degrees. If you want to ensure extra good installation, we usually recommend cleaning with T-red and then supplementing with a primer, for example from 3M, which you can find HERE.
Installation:
Each door strip is uniquely packaged in different named bags to make it easier for you to identify where each door strip should be mounted. The moldings are deliberately made in too long lengths, this is so that you as a customer have a little extra reserve that you can use if something goes wrong. When you assemble the moldings and attach the ones you are going to use, just cut off the excess before pressing each end of the moldings.
Take one strip at a time and ensure that you have cleaned with T-red or an equivalent cleaner before you start fitting.
Hold the strip up to the intended surface to know how much you need and how to position it, remember to set the door strips a few mm inwards on the doors so that the strips do not stick out when you close the door!
For Model 3 & Y, all moldings should be installed.
For Model S, all moldings except the A & B post should be installed.
For Model X, all moldings except the A, B & rear doors should be installed.
TheA & B posts
are mounted on each part of the body/doors as shown in the pictures above. The moldings are not needed for Model S & X.
Thefront doors
Mounted with the thick part of the strip at the bottom of the door while the narrow strip is mounted upwards.
Here it is important to start at the edge at the bottom of the door (with a few mm in so that the strip is not visible when you close the door).
Then just mount the narrow part upwards on the door while the thicker part follows the edge at the bottom of the door along the entire door.
Here it is important not to cover drainage holes for water from the windows. Either you can mount the strip a little higher up above the holes (we usually recommend this), it is also possible to cut a little in the strip to leave a hole at the drainage hole.
Rear doors
Start at the top of the edge and work your way down along the door (with a few mm in so that the strip is not visible when you close the door).
Here it is also important not to cover the drainage holes for water from the windows. Either you can mount the strip a little higher up above the holes (we usually recommend this), it is also possible to cut a little in the strip to leave a hole at the drainage hole.
Frunk
Identify the center of the list, this should be placed in the middle of the frunk relatively far out on the edge (but still with a few mm margin inwards so that the list is placed correctly while nothing is visible when you close the frunk). From the center of the frunk, you mount the list, then the list will go around the edges and form an even pressure which minimizes insects under the frunk while the air that comes forward from when you drive seems to go out to the sides.
Trunk
Mounted between the respective brake lights on the cars. Here you follow the edge of the boot lid (but still with a few mm margin inwards so that the strip is placed correctly while nothing is visible when you close the boot lid). Excess parts are easily cut away.
Have any of your strips come loose?
Complete with new 3M tape which you can find HERE. For optimal adhesion, we also recommend 3M primer which you can find HERE.
If you choose for installation, we will select door moldings that are adapted to your car's needs, taking into account the existing moldings in your car based on model and year.
