Replace Wiper Blades
For optimal performance, wiper blades should be replaced at least once a year. Replacement blades must meet the following criteria:
- The driver's side blade must be 26 inches (650 mm) long, and the passenger's side blade must be 21 inches (530 mm) long.
- Ensure that the mount on the replacement blade is the same as on the original blade. Different mounts can prevent the replacement blade from attaching to the vehicle's wiper arm.
You can purchase replacement wiper blades from hamhi.com or from the Tesla store (and https://shop.tesla.cn/ for China).
Note: Only install replacement blades that are identical to the original blades. Using unsuitable blades can damage the wiper system and windshield.
Note: The windshield washer system is an integrated part of the wiper blades on Model X.
How to replace the wiper blades:
- Put the vehicle in Park and turn off the wipers.
- Press Controls > Service > Wiper Service Mode to move the wipers into service mode.
- Lift the wiper arm slightly away from the windshield to access the wiper blade.
Caution: The wiper blades do not lock in an upright position. Do not lift the wiper arm higher than its intended position.
- Gently slide the wiper blade outward and upward to detach it from the wiper arm.
- Place a towel between the wiper arm and the windshield to avoid scratches or cracks.
- Hold the wiper arm and press down on the locking tab while sliding the blade down the arm.
- Slide the wiper blade down and toward the wiper arm to secure it in place.
- Align the new wiper blade with the wiper arm and slide it toward the end of the wiper arm until it locks into place.
Caution: Ensure the new blade is locked and secure. Confirm this by pressing and pulling. If it is not locked (you can hear and feel a “click”), the wiper blade may come loose during use, causing significant damage.
- Turn off Wiper Service Mode to return the wipers to their normal position.
