Programming Smart Garage Doors

HomeLink

Program HomeLink®:

  • Park Model S so that the front bumper is in front of the device you want to program.

Caution: The device may open or close during programming. Therefore, before programming, ensure the device cannot hit people or objects.

  • Ensure the remote control for the device has a properly functioning battery. Tesla recommends replacing the battery in the device's remote before programming HomeLink.
  • Tap the HomeLink icon at the top of the touchscreen.
  • Tap Create HomeLink.
  • Enter a name for the device on the HomeLink screen, then tap Register or Add New HomeLink.
  • Select the mode you want to use (Standard, D-mode, or UR-mode), then tap Set Mode.
  • Tap Start and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If you see a screen titled “Train Receiver” during programming, remember this is a time-sensitive step. Once you press the Learn/Program/Smart button on the device’s remote, you have about 30 seconds to return to the vehicle, tap Continue and then double-click on the programmed HomeLink device name. Consider having another person assist to complete the step within the 30 seconds.

  • Once the device is programmed, tap Save to complete the programming.
  • Ensure HomeLink works properly. In some cases, you may need to repeat the programming process multiple times before it is successful.

Once programmed, you can control the device by tapping the corresponding HomeLink icon on the touchscreen. HomeLink remembers the location of programmed devices. When you approach a known location, the HomeLink control appears automatically on the touchscreen. As you drive away, it disappears.
