Replace Wiper Blades
For optimal performance, wiper blades should be replaced at least once a year. Replacement blades must meet the following criteria:
- The driver-side blade must be 26 inches (650 mm) long and the passenger-side blade must be 20 inches (500 mm) long.
- Ensure that the mounting attachment on the replacement blade is the same as the original. Different attachments may prevent the replacement blade from securing to the vehicle’s wiper arm.
You can purchase replacement wiper blades at Hamphi.com or at the Tesla store (and at https://shop.tesla.cn/ for China).
Note: Only install replacement blades that are identical to the originals. Using inappropriate blades may damage the wiper system and the windshield.
To replace the wiper blades:
- Put the vehicle in Park and turn off the wiper blades.
- Press Controls > Service > Wiper Service Mode to move the wiper blades into service position.
- Lift the wiper arm slightly away from the windshield to access the blade.
Caution: The wiper blades do not lock in the raised position. Do not raise the wiper arm beyond its intended position.
- Place a towel between the wiper arm and windshield to avoid scratching or cracking the windshield.
- Hold the wiper arm and press the locking tab while sliding the blade down the arm.
- Adjust the new wiper blade on the wiper arm and slide it towards the end of the wiper arm until it clicks into place.
Caution: Ensure the new blade is locked in place and does not move. Verify by pushing and pulling the blade. If it is not securely locked (you should hear and feel a 'click'), the blade may detach during use, causing significant damage.
- Turn off Wiper Service Mode to return the wiper blades to the normal position.
