After last year's major update to the Tesla Model 3, the popular sibling Tesla Model Y is now expected to receive a similar upgrade. Recently, a masked Tesla test vehicle has been spotted on the roads of California, suggesting that the changes are underway.
Based on what can be glimpsed behind the masking, it seems likely that the Tesla Model Y will receive the same kind of exterior updates as the Model 3, with changes to both the front and rear sections. These areas are carefully covered on the test vehicle, strengthening the suspicion of upcoming design changes.
This is likely one of the first sightings of the updated Model Y, which goes by the working name ‘Juniper’. With Tesla now testing the car on public roads, we can expect more details on the updates. Interest in the new model is high, not least because the Model Y was the world's best-selling car model in 2023.
Despite earlier rumours of an imminent update, Elon Musk has clarified that no major changes for Model Y will happen this year either.
