Figure 1. Figure A

Figure 2. Figure B

Follow the instructions on the touchscreen to calibrate the headlights. Calibration is complete when all four controls have changed from 'red' to 'green'.

Please note that the calibration run can take up to 2 km! To ensure an accurate calibration:

- After activating the drive rails, wait at least 1 second before switching to Drive

- Close all vehicle doors and do not open them during the calibration run

- After the vehicle has stopped, wait at least 1 second before opening the doors

- Do not drive the vehicle backwards more than 10 meters. If this is unavoidable (e.g. due to garage conditions), start the headlamp calibration after the vehicle has left the garage

After calibration is complete, the headlights can be adjusted. Proceed to the next step.

Positioning the vehicle to adjust the headlights

When positioning, the vehicle should be:

- In a dark workplace with low ambient lighting

- Parked on a flat surface

- Perpendicular to a wall with a matte surface (wall must be at least 1.8 m (6 ft) high and 3.7 m (12 ft) wide)

- With all 4 tires inflated to specification

1. place a piece of tape on the wall 81 cm (32 in) from the ground

2. measure 7.62 m (25 ft) from the wall and place a piece of tape on the ground where the vehicle will be parked

3. Park the vehicle perpendicular to the wall, so that the front bumper is in line with the tape on the ground.

Figure 3. Model 3 shown, Model Y similar.

4. Check that the vehicle is perpendicular to the wall by measuring the distance from the center of each front wheel to the wall. If necessary, adjust so that the distance is equal on both sides.

5. Hold a laser pointer against the tape on the wall and project a laser beam onto the center of the vehicle. When the laser beam is aligned with the center of the vehicle, mark the wall with tape next to the previous tape. This is the center reference point.

Tip: Aim the laser beam at the flat part of the front fascia, directly below the lower tip of the Tesla “T” logo.

Figure 4: Model 3 shown, Model Y similar.

6. Place tape on the wall 79 cm (31 in) to the left and right of the center reference point. These are the left and right reference points.

Adjust the headlights

7. If not already activated, enter the headlight adjustment mode. On the touchscreen, tap Controls > Service > Adjust headlights to activate the mode.

8. Cover the right headlight with a clean shop towel to block all light from it.

9. on the touchscreen, select Left, and use the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel to adjust the light beam.

Please note!

- The top edge of the rectangular light beam should be in line with the horizontal tape on the wall

- The left edge of the L-shaped light beam should be aligned with the left reference point

Warning:

- Do not sit in the vehicle during adjustment, as this may affect the headlight setting

10. Remove the cover from the right headlamp.

11. repeat steps 7 to 9 for the right headlight, but this time cover the left headlight

12. Exit the headlight adjustment mode on the touchscreen.

Now the headlights are correctly adjusted!
