Tesla Model Y Standard

Tesla launches two new models – Model Y Standard and, Roadster?

Tesla is launching two new models on October 7, 2025. The teaser images most likely reveal the new Tesla Model Y Standard. It is expected to be Tesla's most affordable model to date, priced approximately SEK 50,000 below the current Model Y.

Previous information indicates that the Model Y Standard will feature:

  • A metal roof instead of a glass roof
  • 18-inch wheels called Aperture
  • A simplified interior with textile trim and manual adjustment of certain functions
  • A slightly smaller cargo capacity but still room for five people and up to 2,100 liters of luggage

The mysterious model – could it be the new Roadster?

The second teaser has led many Tesla enthusiasts to speculate that Tesla is not only launching the Model Y Standard, but also the long-awaited Tesla Roadster. The Roadster, which was first unveiled in 2017, has been called a supercar-class electric car and is expected to achieve:

  • 0-100 km/h in 2.1 seconds
  • A top speed of over 400 km/h
  • A price tag of around SEK 2 million

Despite several delays, development has continued quietly. A recently discovered patent shows that the Roadster will have active aerodynamic fans and side skirts. These components could create the fan noise we hear in the published teaser.

Other theories suggest that the spinning image shows the new rims for the Model Y Standard, or that Tesla is planning to unveil a new heat pump system for households. The latter would tie in with Tesla's Master Plan, Part 3, in which the company emphasizes the importance of sustainable energy solutions even outside the transport sector.

Stay tuned!

If the rumors are true, we are in for a double release today! A competitively priced Tesla Model Y for everyday users and an extreme Tesla Roadster for those who want to push the boundaries of what an electric car can be.
