Second generation mobile connection status lights
Normal operation
When charging under normal conditions, the Tesla logo lights up in turn and the red light is disabled.
- Green light: All on for one second, Red light: Off
What does it mean: Startup sequence.
- Green light: All on, Red light: Off
What does it mean: The power is on. The mobile connection is powered but not charging.
- Green light: Power on, Red light: Off
What does it mean: Charging in progress.
Troubleshooting
If an error has occurred, the red light may come on. Identify problems by paying attention to the lights.
In some cases, you may need to reset the device by disconnecting the mobile connection from the vehicle or the power outlet.
- Green light: Streaming, Red light: 1 blink
What does it mean: Charging current is reduced due to high temperature detected in the vehicle connector.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection from the vehicle and then plug it back in. Consider charging in a cooler place such as indoors or in the shade. If the error persists, contact your nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Streaming, Red light: 2 flashes
What does it mean: Charging current is reduced due to high temperature of the incoming connector connecting to the mobile connection controller.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection from both the vehicle and the wall socket. Check that the adapter is fully plugged in, plug the mobile connection into the wall socket and then plug it into the vehicle. If the error persists, contact your nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Streaming, Red light: 3 flashes
What does it mean: Charging current is reduced due to high temperature in the mobile connection controller.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection from the vehicle and then plug it back in. Consider charging in a cooler place such as indoors or in the shade. If the error persists, contact your nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Streaming, Red light: 4 flashes
What does it mean: Charging current is reduced due to high temperature in the wall plug.
To do this: Check that the power outlet is suitable for charging and that the plug is properly connected. Try connecting to a different socket. If you are unsure, ask an electrician.
- Green light: Current, Red light: 5 flashes
What does it mean: The charging current is reduced due to a fault in the adapter.
To do this: Ensure that the mobile connection adapter is securely attached.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 1 blink
What does it mean: Grounding fault. Electrical current is leaking through a potentially unsafe path.
To do: Unplug the mobile connection from the vehicle and then plug it back in. Try a different socket. If the error persists, contact the nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 2 flashes
What does it mean: Lack of grounding. The mobile connection has detected that grounding is missing.
To do this: Make sure that the electrical outlet is properly grounded. Try connecting to a different socket. If you are unsure, ask an electrician.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 3 flashes
What does it mean: Relay/contactor fault.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection from the vehicle and then plug it back in. Try a different socket. If the error persists, contact the nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 4 flashes
What does it mean: Over or under voltage protection.
To do this: Check that the power outlet is suitable for charging and that the plug is properly connected. Try connecting to a different socket. If you are unsure, ask an electrician.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 5 flashes
What does it mean: Adapter error.
Here's what to do: Ensure that the mobile connection adapter is securely attached.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 6 flashes
What does it mean: Control error. The control level is incorrect.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection from the vehicle and then plug it back in. Try a different socket. If the error persists, contact the nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Off, Red light: 7 blinks
What does it mean: Software error or customization error.
Here's what to do: Update the vehicle software if an update is available. If no update is available, contact the nearest Service Center.
- Green light: Off, Red light: On
What does it mean: Automatic check failed.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection from the vehicle and then plug it back in. If the problem persists, unplug the mobile connection from both the vehicle and the power outlet, then plug it back in.
- Green light: All on, Red light: 1 blink
What does it mean: Heating error.
Here's how: Consider charging in a cooler place, such as indoors or in the shade. If the error persists, contact the nearest Service Center.
- Green light: All on, Red light: 5 blinks
What does it mean: Adapter error. Charging current is limited to 8 A.
To do this: Disconnect the mobile connection from the vehicle. Reconnect the mobile connection to the vehicle. If the problem persists, disconnect the mobile connection from both the vehicle and the power outlet, then reconnect it.
- Green light: Off, Red light: Off
What does it mean: No power.
To do this: Unplug the mobile connection and check that there is power in the power socket.
