Charge Port Status Light
When the charge port is open, the status light changes color to indicate the current status. The purpose is to assist with troubleshooting if an issue occurs. The charge port light turns off as a reminder after a short time if the vehicle is locked (for example, when approaching the car after it has been charging for a while).
Note: When you connect your vehicle, make it a habit to check the color of the charge port light before leaving the vehicle. If the light is red or yellow, you can directly address the issue and ensure proper charging.
- WHITE – SOLID (normal operation)
What it means: Model X is ready to charge, and the plug is not inserted, or the charge port latch is unlocked, and the plug can be removed.
What to do: Insert the plug to charge or remove it if charging is finished.
- BLUE – FLASHING (normal operation)
What it means: Model X communication with the charging station is active.
What to do: Do nothing. Wait a few seconds until the charge port starts flashing green (charging) or stays solid blue (a scheduled charging session is pending).
- BLUE – SOLID (action required)
What it means: Model X recognizes that a plug is inserted and a scheduled charging session will begin at a set time. Charging is not active.
What to do: If you want to charge immediately, disable Scheduled Charging or press Start Charging on the touchscreen or mobile app. If you want to use scheduled charging, do nothing. Remember that scheduled charging saves your location.
- GREEN – FLASHING (normal operation)
What it means: Charging is in progress. The more charged Model X becomes, the slower the light flashes.
What to do: Do nothing. Remove the charging cable when charging is complete.
- GREEN – SOLID (normal operation)
What it means: Charging is complete.
What to do: Remove the charging cable when you're ready to drive.
- YELLOW – SOLID (action required)
What it means: The plug is not fully inserted into the charge port.
What to do: Realign the plug with the charge port and fully insert it. If the issue persists, check for obstructions in the charge port and plug. If no issues are found, try a different charging cable.
- YELLOW – FLASHING (action required)
What it means: Model X is charging at a reduced current because the plug is not fully inserted into the charge port.
What to do: Realign the plug with the charge port and fully insert it. If the issue persists, check for obstructions in the charge port and plug. If no issues are found, try a different charging cable.
- RED – SOLID (action required)
What it means: An error has been detected, and charging has stopped or cannot begin.
What to do: Check the instrument panel or touchscreen for an error message. If no issue is detected, try a different charging cable or reset the charging source (if applicable, check the mobile connector or wall outlet's status light). If this doesn't resolve the issue, reboot the vehicle using the touchscreen and try again.
- NO LIGHT (normal operation)
What it means: Model X is locked and has been off for a while.
What to do: Do nothing. The charge port status light will illuminate when the vehicle is unlocked or the button on the charging handle is pressed.
