Charging socket status light
When the charging socket is open, the status light changes color to inform about the current status. The purpose is to facilitate troubleshooting in the event of a fault. The charging socket light will turn off as a reminder after a short time if the vehicle is locked (for example, if you approach the vehicle after it has been charging for a while).
Note: When connecting your vehicle, make a habit of checking the color of the charging socket light before leaving the vehicle. If the light is red or yellow, you can immediately fix the error and ensure a correctly performed charge.
- WHITE - FIXED SHINE(normal function)
What does it mean: Model 3 is ready to charge and the plug is not plugged in, or the charging port latch is unlocked and the plug can be removed.
To do this: Insert the plug to charge or remove it to stop charging.
- BLUE - FLASHING(normal function)
What does it mean: Model 3 communication with the charging station is enabled.
Here's how: Nothing. Wait a few seconds until the charging socket starts flashing green (charging) or glowing solid blue (an upcoming charge is scheduled).
- BLUE - SOLID LIGHT(action may be required)
What does it mean: Model 3 identifies that a plug has been connected and that an upcoming charge will start at a specific scheduled time. Charging not active.
To do this: If you want to charge immediately, deactivate Scheduled charging or tap Start charging on the touchscreen or on your mobile app. If you want to use scheduled charging, you do not need to do anything. Remember that scheduled charging saves your position.
- GREEN - FLASHING(normal function)
What does it mean: Charging in progress. The more charged Model 3 is, the slower the light flashes.
Here's how: Nothing. Remove the charging cable when charging is complete.
- GREEN - FIXED SHADE(normal function)
What does it mean: Charging is complete.
To do this: Remove the charging cable when you are ready to drive away.
- YELLOW - FIXED SHADE(action required)
What does it mean: The plug is not fully inserted in the charging socket.
To do this: Re-align the cable connector with the charging socket and push it in fully. If the problem persists, check if there is anything obstructing the connection of the charging socket and plug. If no errors are detected, try another charging cable.
- YELLOW - FLASHING(action required)
What does it mean: Model 3 charging occurs at a reduced current due to not being fully plugged into the charging socket.
Here's how: Re-align the cable connector with the charging socket and push it in fully. If the problem persists, check if there is anything obstructing the connection of the charging socket and plug. If no errors are detected, try another charging cable.
- RED - FIXED SCENE(action required)
What does it mean: An error has been detected and loading has been interrupted or cannot start.
To do this: Check on the touchscreen if there is an error message. If no error is detected, try another charging cable or reset the charging source (if applicable, check the status light on the mobile connection or wall plug). If another charging cable does not help, turn the vehicle off and on via the touchscreen and try again.
- NO LAMP(normal function)
What does it mean: Model 3 is locked and has been off for some time.
Here's what to do: Nothing. The charging socket status light comes on if the vehicle is unlocked or the button on the charging handle is pressed.
