Replacing the mudguards and mud flaps
To replace the mudguards and mud flaps, do the following:
- Turn the knob to the left as far as it will go to access the area where the installation will take place.
- Remove the bolt that secures the lower part of the mudguard to the lower side threshold.
- SECOND GENERATION KIT: Carefully use a flat head screwdriver to open the push clips (pull out the plastic rivet), then remove the push clips that secure the mud flap to the inner wheel housing.
- FIRST GENERATION KIT: Remove the screws and washers securing the mudguard to the U-nuts in the inner wheel arch.
- Remove the mudguard or fender from the vehicle.
- WHEN INSTALLING THE FLASH GUARD: Clean the splash guard with alcohol and let it dry completely. Then remove the protective film from the mudguard and align the mudguard with the splash guard so that the holes are correctly aligned. Once aligned, press the area along the splashguard to ensure it is firmly attached to the fender.
Note: Use new tape if the mudguards have previously been detached from the mudguards.
- WHEN REMOVING SPRAY SHIELDS:Pull the splash guard away from the splash guard to release the adhesive tape. Clean the splash guard and fender with alcohol and allow to dry completely.
Caution: Mudguards are recommended if you are driving on roads where salt, sand or gravel is used to improve road conditions.
- SECOND GENERATION RATES: Align the holes in the mudguard/fender with the holes in the front wheel housing, and then press the opened (plastic rivets extended) pressure clips into the holes. Once the clips have been pushed in, push in the plastic rivets to close the clips and lock the mudguard in place.
- FIRST GENERATION KIT:Place the washers over the two screws and screw them to secure the mudguard/ mud flap to the U-nuts in the front wheel housing. Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm(1 ft-lbs).
- Attach the bolt securing the lower part of the mudguard to the lower side sill. Tighten the bolt to 5 Nm (4 ft-lbs).
- Perform this procedure again on the right side of the vehicle.
Note: This procedure and illustrations describe how to replace the mudguard and fender on the left side of the vehicle. Instructions on how to install on the right side are the same but mirrored.
