Changing the cabin filter
Model S has an air filter that prevents pollen, industrial emissions, road dust, and other particles from entering the cabin through the air vents. Tesla recommends changing these filters after 2 years (every year in China). You can purchase cabin filters at Hamphi.com or at Tesla-store (andhttps://shop.tesla.cn/ for China).
Changing the cabin filter:
- Turn off the climate control system.
- Move the front seat on the right side all the way back.
- Release the magnets on the legroom panel by slowly and gently pulling the panel down. Then disconnect the power cable on the right side of the panel. Move the panel to the legroom.
- Release the cabin filter door by squeezing the latch. Then remove the cover and put it away.
- Note the direction of the airflow printed on the cabin filter. The arrows on the filter should point towards the rear of the vehicle.
- Slide the filter out of the HVAC module.
- Make sure that the arrows on the new filter point backwards in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and insert the new cabin filter into the HVAC module.
- Slide the cabin filter cover onto the HVAC module and lock the cover by pressing it.
Note: Check that the lock is fully locked and that the hatch was sealed when closing.
- Attach the panel to the right front legroom of the vehicle and connect the electrical harness to the panel.
- Install the panel to the right front legroom and make sure the magnets (3 pcs.) are locked in place.
