Tesla has recently unveiled an upgraded version of the Model Y with Long Range and rear-wheel drive, aiming to maintain its leading position at the top of the sales charts. The new version of the popular Model Y is designed to travel up to 600 kilometers on a single charge, setting a new standard for efficiency in electric vehicles.

Tesla Model Y: A bestseller gets new life

The Tesla Model Y has been a success story, becoming the best-selling car in both Sweden and Europe last year. This is particularly noteworthy given Tesla's ongoing conflicts with the IF Metall union. However, the year 2024 got off to a slow start for Tesla, and the company is keen to reverse the trend with this latest launch.

The new Model Y with rear-wheel drive and long range offers an impressive WLTP range of 600 km and has a starting price of 602,170 SEK. This places it between the simpler entry-level model and the more expensive Long Range 4WD version in terms of price and performance.

What's new in the latest Tesla Model Y

As with other Tesla models, standard equipment includes a heat pump and tow bar, with the option to upgrade to, for example, a different exterior and interior color, rims, and enhanced autopilot or full self-driving capability. The new Model Y is manufactured in Germany and is already available in showrooms across Sweden, with the first deliveries to customers scheduled to take place soon.

Overview of Tesla Model Y models:
  • RWD: 455 km range, 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, price 544,170 SEK.
  • LR RWD: 600 km range, 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, price 602,170 SEK.
  • LR AWD: 533 km range, 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, price 634 170 SEK.
