Remove emblem on car - Step by step
Removing emblems
To remove emblems on your car, whether it's on the hood (frunk) or on the trunk, you need mainly 2 tools.
1. Start by applying cold degreasing to the surface where you have your emblems you want to remove. Remember to avoid applying cold degreasing in direct sunlight, the cold degreasing should also not dry on the surface, so it is better to apply a little more cold degreasing or rinse off with plain water after a while.
2. When the cold degreasing has been allowed to work for 2-3 minutes, take a thin fishing line between your fingers and start "sawing" between the emblem and the paint on the car. The fishing line will prevent you from scratching the paint and will easily and effectively cut through the glue for your emblem. If necessary, you can also apply a little more cold degreasing here.
3. When the emblem has finally come off, you can apply another round of cold degreasing to get rid of the last glue residues. The surface can then be rinsed with plain water to remove all the cold degreasing from the paint. If you do not have access to cold degreasing, T-red also works for smaller emblems.
Removing stickers on cars
Removing stickers from your car can be a smooth process if you have the right tools and techniques. Follow these steps to remove decals without damaging the paint:
- Start by heating the decal with a hair dryer or heat gun. Hold the device at a safe distance (about 15-20 cm) from the decal and heat it for 1-2 minutes. The heat will make the adhesive softer and easier to remove, reducing the risk of damaging the paint.
- Once the decal has warmed up, use a plastic spudger to gently loosen it from the surface. Start at a corner and pull slowly to avoid breaking it. If the sticker is tough or difficult to remove, keep applying heat while lifting it.
- After the decal is removed, there may be glue residue left on the paint. Apply cold degreasing to the areas where the glue is present. Leave it on for a few minutes to dissolve the residue. You can also use a microfiber cloth or a plastic spudger to gently rub off the glue without scratching the surface.
- Once all the glue has been removed, use car shampoo and water to thoroughly wash the area and get rid of any dirt and cleaning agents. Wipe with a clean microfiber cloth to get a dry and smooth surface.
With the right technique and careful work, you can easily remove emblems and decals without damaging your car's paint!
