Slips & One-pedal driving
Slips and one-pedal driving
Have you recently switched to winter tires? Maybe the snow hasn't really started falling but the frost has arrived in the morning?
Don't forget to set your car to the right tires, go into your car's settings and tire configuration and select winter wheels. The car will adapt its driving to the wheels and weather.
For those who have just switched to an electric car, the first winter can be a bit special, one pedal driving or one-pedal driving as it can also be called is just what it sounds like, you drive with only one pedal and never use the brake. In the summer it's easier but in the winter when it gets slippery and you need to keep a longer distance, one pedal driving can be more difficult.
If you feel that it is slippery outside and are not really used to the car braking itself, it is important that you keep extra distance, when you release the accelerator, the car will automatically start braking. Today, cars' systems are smart enough to correct for slippery conditions so you don't skid, but if you find that the back end of the car wants to go sideways, just give the accelerator a little push. So by balancing the drive and the accelerator slowly downwards, you will find that even driving your first winter in an electric car will go smoother than all your other previous cars.
