Protective Film for Mud Flaps / Roof Racks

Are you installing new mud flaps on your Tesla to protect against road salt and other dirt? Or perhaps mounting a roof rack on the car? Remember to protect the paint with protective film!

We recommend replacing the protective film 1–2 times per year if you want to take care of the paint under the mud flaps/roof rack. Preferably every time you change tires or install the roof rack.

Protective film to be placed under the mud flaps / roof rack to protect the car’s paint.

When installing the protective film, the paint around the wheel arches must of course be clean!

Identify how much protective film you need – the length of the film is sufficient to install on all four mud flaps.

We usually recommend the following: Cut the protective film into four equal-length pieces. Each piece can then be split widthwise, meaning that the included set of protective film is sufficient for the entire first year. You can find more protective film HERE.

Hold the mud flaps against the car to identify how far onto the paint the edge of the mud flaps extends. The goal is to place the protective film as close to this edge as possible, as it is the edge of the mud flaps that needs to be covered.

The protective film has a thin plastic layer on both sides. First remove the plastic covering the adhesive side. Install the film in the desired position, then remove the plastic protecting the surface of the protective film.
