Description
Sandblasted sills are a common issue on the Tesla Model Y. With our mud flaps, you effectively protect your car’s body from road salt, gravel, asphalt chips, and other debris thrown up by the wheels.
The mud flaps are made from high-quality flexible ABS plastic with a matte black finish that blends perfectly with the car’s design. One of our most popular and in-demand accessories for the Model Y. Included is a protective film that is placed under the mud flaps to provide extra protection against scratches and wear.
Includes:
4 mud flaps (front right, front left, rear right, and rear left), mounting clips, and protective film.
Fits:
- Tesla Model Y 2021–2024
Installation:
Installation takes about 10 minutes per mud flap, even for someone with no previous car maintenance experience.
Protective film (not necessary on Model Y)
When applying the protective film, make sure the paint around the wheel arches is clean! Determine how much film you need – the included length is enough to cover all four mud flaps.
We usually recommend the following: Cut the protective film into four equal pieces. Each piece can then be divided in width. This means the included set of protective film will last for the entire first year. Hold the mud flaps up against the car to identify how far the edge of the flap reaches on the paint. The goal is to place the protective film as close to that edge as possible since it’s the flap’s edge you want to cover. The film has a thin plastic layer on both sides – first remove the layer covering the adhesive side, apply the film in place, and then peel off the outer protective layer.
We recommend replacing the protective film 1–2 times per year if you want to keep the paint under the mud flaps in perfect condition — for example, each time you change tires. You can find more protective film HERE.
Front mud flaps:
Start by removing the two clips on the inside of the wheel arch. Hold the mud flap against the car and wheel arch. Insert the new clips included in the package. At the top of each mud flap, there is a small tab that should be tucked behind the metal in the wheel arch.
Rear mud flaps:
For the rear mud flaps, in addition to the clips inside the wheel arch, there is a 10 mm screw underneath behind the wheel arch. This screw should be removed during installation. Once the clips and screw are removed, it’s time to mount the mud flap. Hold the flap against the car and wheel arch, insert the new clips, and then tuck the small tab at the top behind the metal in the wheel arch. Finally, reattach the 10 mm screw underneath the car, aligning it with the hole so it secures the mud flap in place.
