Ladda Elbilen med Bankkort i Hela EU

Charge your electric car with a bank card across the EU

A new regulation means that from April 13, 2024, all new public charging points for electric cars in the EU must offer the possibility to pay by regular payment card. This change, which aims to simplify the process for EV drivers, no longer requires registration, app download or prepayment to use the charging stations. This step is part of the EU regulation on alternative fuels infrastructure and aims to make it easier for EV users to charge their vehicles, especially when traveling through different parts of the country.

Anders Nilsson, senior business developer at the state research institute Rise, comments that this measure is a way to reduce complexity for EV drivers. Furthermore, it is announced that as of January 1, 2027, these rules will be extended to include all existing charging stations, regardless of when they were installed. This marks a significant step towards facilitating the transition to electric vehicles and supporting the EU's broader environmental objectives.
