Trade Union IF Metall Allows Repairs to Tesla Cars Under Temporary Dispensation
IF Metall announces an important change regarding Tesla cars: a temporary relaxation of the restrictions that previously prevented workshops from handling repairs on these cars. For a limited period, from February 19 to April 30, an exemption will be applied, allowing some workshops to carry out necessary repairs on Tesla cars that would otherwise be unusable.
However, this temporary measure does not affect Tesla's own workshops, where work is still stopped due to a strike. Instead, the exemption rules apply to around 30 independent repair shops. Veli-Pekka Säikkälä, Contract Secretary at IF Metall, emphasizes the importance of being aware of this restriction. "After this time window closes, it will be significantly more difficult to get your car repaired. It is therefore important to carefully consider which car you choose to buy," Säikkälä explains.
This development is part of an ongoing dialogue between the union and the car industry, where IF Metall strives to ensure labor rights while enabling solutions for car owners during strike periods.
