Volvo has introduced its new EX30 electric car, which at 4.23 meters long is not only the company's smallest SUV ever, but also one of the most significant models in recent years. With a lower price compared to the existing XC40 and C40 electric car models, the EX30 is intended to stimulate electric car sales. In 2023, the share of electric car sales at Volvo rose to 16%, from 10.8% the year before. The number of EX30 cars delivered before the New Year is not known, but in December the first cars were delivered to customers in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal. The delivery time for Swedish customers is still uncertain.

The base model of the EX30, which starts at 429.000 SEK, is equipped with rear-wheel drive, 272 horsepower and a 49 kWh LFP battery, which gives a range of 34,4 miles. However, the heat pump is not included in the Core and Plus trim levels. It is available first in the Ultra version and the Single Motor Extended Range model, which starts at 489,000 SEK, and has a larger 69 kWh NMC battery for 47.5 miles of range.

The top model, the Twin Motor Performance, offers all-wheel drive and starts at £559,000. With a 69 kWh battery, it provides a range of 45 miles and dual electric motors provide a total of 428 horsepower, making it Volvo's fastest car to date with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of 3.6 seconds. Information on the distribution of the different versions among the first customers, or when Swedish customers who ordered the car can expect delivery, is not available. According to Volvo's website, the expected delivery time for new orders of the EX30 is between 3 and 5 months.
