HEPA filter replacement
Tesla recommends replacing the HEPA filter, if so equipped, after 3 years (every year in China). To change the HEPA filter:
- Open the bonnet:
- Remove the protective cover under the rear bonnet.
- Remove both the left and right cover plates under the hood.
- Remove the front hood cover plate.
- Carefully fold back the luggage compartment seals to release the front part of the mat from the luggage compartment, then disconnect the electrical connection for both luggage compartment lights.
- Remove the mat from the under-hood storage compartment.
- Remove the fasteners (x20) that secure the under-hood storage unit to the vehicle.
- Remove the under-hood storage unit from the vehicle.
- Detach the old HEPA filter from the hose.
- Put the new HEPA filter in place so that it is secured by the hose.
- Put the storage unit in place and then tighten the fasteners (x2) to secure it:
- Put the mat back into the storage unit.
- Connect the electrical connections for the storage compartment lighting and adjust the seal so that there are no openings.
- Replace the front, right, left and rear cover plates under the hood and close the hood.
