Remove and install wheel nut covers

If Model 3 is equipped with wheel nut covers, you must remove them to access the wheel nuts.

Remove a wheel nut cover:

Vehicles manufactured from approximately January 2024, grasp behind the wheel nut cover and pull the wheel nut cover away from the wheel.

For vehicles manufactured before approximately January 2024:

  • Insert the rounded portion of the lug nut cap tool, if applicable (found in the glove box of some vehicles or you can use a small Allen wrench), into the hole below the Tesla T.

Anm: The wheel nut cover tool can also be purchased at an auto parts store or ordered online.

  • Maneuver the tool so that it is fully inserted into the hole in the wheel nut cover.
  • Turn the tool so that the rounded part touches the center of the wheel nut cover.
  • Pull the tool firmly away from the wheel until the wheel nut cover comes off.

Install the wheel nut cover:

  • Align the wheel nut cover in place.
  • Press the wheel nut cover firmly until it snaps into place.

Caution: Before driving, make sure the wheel nut cover is securely fastened to prevent it from falling off.
