Tesla Circumvents Blockade: Secures License Plates without Investigation
Tesla has found a way to circumvent a blockade that prevented them from getting license plates for their cars. This blockade was part of sympathy measures against IF Metall in an ongoing conflict. Previously, Tesla had been unable to get their license plates delivered by Postnord. To solve this problem, Tesla discovered a "loophole" whereby owners of new Tesla cars could order replacement plates directly from the Swedish Transport Agency, which is usually used in case of theft or damage of license plates.
This method has never before been used in this way, and the Transport Agency was considering investigating this practice. However, the agency has now announced that it will not proceed with an investigation into this "loophole", according to a statement from Susann Dahlberg Karlsson, section head of the Vehicle Information Department at the Swedish Transport Agency.
In addition, there have been legal developments surrounding this issue. Tesla has sued both Postnord and the Swedish Transport Agency to try to stop the sympathy measures. The conflict stems from Tesla's refusal to join a Swedish collective agreement, which led to the blockade by Postnord as a sympathy action by the trade unions IF Metall, Seko and ST. During the process, decisions have been made by various courts, including Norrköping District Court and Solna District Court, which have affected Tesla's ability to access license plates.
