Tesla's Autopilot Update Due to US Investigation
Tesla is implementing an Autopilot update following a US investigation, but it does not affect Sweden. The American authority NHTSA has been investigating Tesla's Autopilot system for several years. The result is that Tesla must now implement a software update in two million cars.
Formally, this is called a recall, but in practice the update will be able to be performed online, meaning that car owners will not have to visit a workshop. This update currently only applies to cars in the US and not in Sweden.
The reason why the software needs to be updated according to NHTSA is that Tesla has not done enough to prevent the driver from using the system incorrectly. After the update, the car should be better at detecting when the driver is unfocused and giving warnings.
