Elbilars Andel Minskar i Nyregistreringar Trots Stark Tillväxt för Tesla Model Y

Electric Car Share Declines in New Registrations Despite Strong Growth for Tesla Model Y

October saw a continued rise in new car registrations in Sweden, with figures showing a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. Despite this overall increase, a decrease in the share of new electric cars was noted; they accounted for 38 percent of total registrations, down from 44 percent in September.

The total number of newly registered electric cars was 9,408 in October, which is an increase of 18.5 percent compared to October of the previous year. The Volkswagen ID.4 led the league of electric cars with 994 new registrations, followed by the Volvo XC40 Recharge with 916 and the Skoda Enyaq with 716.

Despite strong sales in recent months, the Tesla Model Y placed fifth in October with 621 new registrations. However, this model still stands as Sweden's most popular car model for the year overall, with an accumulated total of 14,078 registrations.

This decline in the share of electric cars in new registrations gives an indication of the fluctuations that can occur in the market, but the steady annual increase still points to a growing enthusiasm for electric vehicles. With continued innovation and investment in the EV sector, this trend can regain momentum and help Sweden move closer to its environmental goals.
